Two-Minute Mug Brownie

No tray, no waiting for a whole batch, nothing to wash but a mug and a fork. The trick is pulling it out while the middle still looks unfinished.

Two-Minute Mug Brownie

Read the full instructions and gather your supplies before starting.

Step 1 of 5

Put the flour, sugar, cocoa and salt in the mug. Stir with the fork until the colour is even and there are no dry cocoa lumps.

Cocoa clumps are stubborn. Squash them against the side of the mug with the back of the fork.

Lifting the mug out — it gets much hotter than the brownie inside it

How to make it

Why that works

A microwave heats the water inside the batter, not the mug. Once that water boils away the crumb has nothing left to keep it soft, which is why twenty extra seconds is the difference between a brownie and a hockey puck.
